A friend yesterday implored me to rethink some of my basic approaches to life. He pointed out, correctly I think, that I lean heavily on my past experience with people and events to judge the present and the future expectations. As an example, he suggested that I constantly pre-judge potential suitors based on the behaviors of past ones. And given that all the past ones are, well, past, that leaves very little room to be open to new experiences.

So, what I’m wondering is if this is indeed true, and if it is indeed a bad thing. Or is that what wisdom is? Or have I taken it too far.

The question is posed. And for now, I don’t have the answer, but I suppose I might as well take a closer look.
